AI Ethical Implications in Research practice and Academic Writing
Abstract
This paper contributes to the ongoing debate on artificial intelligence (AI)'s dual and profound impact in academic writing and research practice. While AI enhances research efficiency and accuracy across the research lifecycle such as accelerating discovery, improving data analysis, supporting literature reviews, and strengthening academic writing and editorial quality through diverse applications, yet its misuse raises ethical concerns and challenging academic integrity; including potential AI-related plagiarism (AI-giarism), bias, intellectual ownership erosion, and lack of transparency in AI-driven methodologies. Over-reliance on AI risks eroding critical thinking, creativity, authorship, originality, and academic credibility.
